About

My greatest strength is in making things easy for people to understand. My interface designs have earned high praise for their ease of use and my writing for its clarity. I am responsible, reliable, creative, organized, flexible, idealistic, and practical. My left-brain and right-brain get along really well with each other.

My education and empathy for different points of view allows me to be a good user advocate as well as understand and communicate with team members from engineering, marketing, and other occupations.

My Experience

Seven plus years in user experience and interface design for desktop and web-based applications. My contributions ranged from task analysis, use cases, wireframe design, interaction design, writing and illustrating specifications, collecting user feedback (informally and through formal usability testing), heuristic design reviews of existing products, and working with development and product management teams to build the best possible products.

Four plus years in graphic design and layout for print and online products. I have designed identities for corporations and non-profit groups, worked with marketing teams to create product flyers, edited and designed magazines, reports, and brochures, and created invitations for donor events.

Advanced knowledge of Adobe CS products, OmniGraffle/Visio, and most standard office software; experienced with XHTML/CSS and Dreamweaver. Also skilled in technical and corporate communications and learning Javascript and Actionscript.

My Education includes a Master's degree in Cognitive Psychology, a Bachelor's in Engineering, and a Certificate in Graphic Design.

My Approach to User Interface Design

Get to know the users and be their advocate. Have a good development process. Use solid design principles. Adapt to your team's needs. Recheck your assumptions. Test your designs. Iterate and keep improving. Gather real-world feedback. Be flexible. Have fun!
